The New York Giants came into free agency knowing their biggest need: find a quarterback, no matter what. But instead of aggressively attacking the market, they've been left waiting as the dominoes continue to fall without them. Matthew Stafford? Gone. Sam Darnold? Gone. Justin Fields? Also gone. Now, Aaron Rodgers, one of the only remaining high-end veteran options, is reportedly in talks with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
So, what’s the plan? Because right now, it looks like there isn’t one. General manager Joe Schoen and the front office keep waiting for the right move to present itself, but at this rate, they’re about to be left with Russell Wilson or bust—and that’s not a great place to be.
The entire quarterback market is drying up insanely fast, and the Giants are standing still while the rest of the league finds answers.
If they don’t act now, they’ll be forced into a desperate scramble for whatever scraps remain. And that’s why, in this three-round mock draft, there’s only one real solution: stop waiting and go all-in on the No. 1 pick. If Big Blue wants its franchise guy, it needs to take control of its own destiny and move up to secure the top pick in the draft. It’s time to stop reacting and start making things happen.
Giants 3-round mock draft heading into Day 2 of free agency
It’s happening. The Giants are done waiting. They trade up for the Tennessee Titans' No. 1 overall pick and finally take control of their quarterback future by selecting Cam Ward.
Ward has swagger, a cannon for an arm, and the aggressiveness to push the ball downfield—three things the Giants desperately need. Brian Daboll’s offense has been begging for a quarterback who can actually unlock the vertical passing game, and while Ward isn’t perfect, he’s got the highest upside of any rookie in this class.
The Giants need a playmaker, not a game manager. They need someone who can make magic happen when the pocket collapses. Ward is that guy. If you’re going to make a move this bold, you swing for the fences.
You get a franchise quarterback? You better get him a weapon. Enter Tre Harris.
Harris is a 6-foot-3, 210-pound outside receiver who bullies defenders at the catch point. He’s a physical, possession-style receiver with legit run-after-catch ability—exactly the kind of complement Malik Nabers needs on the opposite side.
Darius Slayton is a solid WR3, but let’s be real—he's not the guy you build around. Harris and Nabers together? That’s a nightmare for defenses.
What good is a rocket-armed quarterback and a dominant WR duo if they’re spending every snap on their backs?
That’s where Tate Ratledge (and his glorious mullet) come in. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound guard is a bruiser with quick feet, raw power, and the athleticism to hold up in Daboll’s zone-heavy scheme.
Yeah, he’s still growing into the position, but you don’t play three years at Georgia without being an absolute monster in the trenches. He can step in immediately and help keep Ward upright.
This is the draft the Giants need to have. Stop waiting, stop hoping a quarterback falls to No. 3, and go get your guy. Build the offense around him with a physical WR2 and a mean interior lineman. The market is drying up fast, and if they don’t make a move soon, they’ll be stuck in quarterback purgatory again.
Time to stop being reactive. Time to take control. Time to go all-in.
