If Giants fans had a nickel for every Jerry Jones fiasco they’d own the Cowboys

It's Jerry's world and we're just living in it.

Training camps are officially underway, and while the Giants have plenty of their own position battles to track, one of the most entertaining storylines might be unfolding deep in enemy territory that's turning into a can't-look-away car crash.

Sure, New York’s got some questions—which cornerback lines up opposite Paulson Adebo, whether the rookie quarterback gets a real shot, and how warm Brian Daboll’s seat really is — but all of that might have to take a back seat after what’s going down in Dallas.

Because once again, Jerry Jones is locked in a training camp battle with his own mouth. And so far, he’s losing... so, so badly.

When reporters asked Jerry about triggering the de-escalator in Trevon Diggs’ contract, his mouth did what it always does — ran a marathon in record time. He didn’t hesitate to take a pointed swing at his star cornerback, firing back with:

"He didn't earn it, he didn't come. That's in his contract; he doesn't get that unless he's going to be here."

Jerry Jones couldn't get out of his own way even if he tried

Trevon Diggs hit the PUP (physically unable to perform) list to open training camp, but leave it to Jones to turn that into a hurricane. Rather than do nothing about it, he turned it into a public airing of grievances, ripping Diggs for skipping team rehab and triggering the $500K de-escalator in his deal. He said it’s about leadership. He said it’s in the contract. What he didn’t say is that this whole thing feels way more personal than anything procedural.

This isn’t a one-off either. Back in April, Jones basically blamed Diggs’ ACL tear on not rehabbing hard enough. That’s now twice this offseason he’s gone out of his way to take potshots at a two-time Pro Bowler and former All-Pro heading into his second year of a five-year, $97 million contract. It's madness... but it's also ridiculously entertaining.

The G-Men still have plenty to figure out at training camp — no one's pretending otherwise. But at least they’re not stuck watching their owner opt not to pay and publicly insult their injured star player.

But Jerruh's gonna Jerruh. And the timing couldn’t be better. Big Blue heads to Jerry World in Week 2. If this is what the Cowboys look like in July, just imagine the chaos by then.
