If there was anybody who was a spark plug, in what was another lost season for the New York Giants, it was wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson.
After losing No. 1 wide receiver Malik Nabers just four games into the season with a torn ACL, Robinson instantly became a favorite target for rookie phenom Jaxson Dart. The 25-year-old set career-highs with 92 receptions for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns, including a career-best 142-yard game against the Dallas Cowboys back in Week 2.
Since being drafted by New York in the second round of the 2022 Draft, the slot receiver has struggled to stay healthy due to a torn ACL that cut his rookie season short, along with inconsistent targets when he’s been on the field. While this past season may make it seem like Robinson is part of the Giants’ future for years to come, you might want to keep an open mind.
On Tuesday afternoon, the franchise tag deadline passed, and nothing came Robinson’s way, which could be the biggest hint yet that he’ll be elsewhere next season.
Wan'Dale Robinson not getting the franchise tag could signal the end of his tenure with the Giants
With the franchise tag window now officially behind us and not being used on Robinson, the wideout is slated to become a free agent when the new league year begins in just a couple of weeks. And despite his career year with Big Blue, the 5-foot-8 wideout seems likely to be playing elsewhere when Week 1 of the 2026 season arrives.

And if there’s any doubt about that sentiment, ESPN Giants reporter Jordan Raanan recently said during an episode of Giants Nation, “It looks like Wan’Dale Robinson is going to end up elsewhere.”
There is no question that Robinson is going to want a massive payday this offseason thanks to his breakout 2025 campaign. But with a new coaching regime led by John Harbaugh, he may want to shake things up and deliver a massive culture change.
This is not a knock on Wan’Dale Robinson, as he certainly showed this past season, when healthy, what he can do on the field, but the Giants may want to explore a different option at the slot receiver position, whether in the draft or free agency. And after the franchise tag was not used on Robinson, that may have signaled to the rest of the NFL that his tenure in East Rutherford could be over.
