The New York Giants might not be having a successful 2025 season, but nobody can deny it's been a fun year. Jaxson Dart has cemented his status as Big Blue's quarterback of the future with an impressive rookie season, while Jameis Winston proved why he's a fan favorite while Dart was injured.
The tip of the iceberg came by virtue of Winston's 33-yard receiving touchdown in Week 12 against the Lions. The trick-play score saw Gunner Olszewski's pass and Jameis' stiff-arm take social media by storm, which saw Dallas Cowboys' starting quarterback Dak Prescott weigh in on the viral play.
On an episode of Hard Knocks, the Dallas coaching staff was discussing the play in a meeting, which led Prescott to discuss his relationship with the former No. 1 pick. It was also the first time he'd seen the touchdown, which saw him hilariously laugh at the play while praising the fellow signal-caller.
Dak Prescott is a fan of Jameis Winston just like all Giants fans are
Everywhere he goes, the 31-year-old is able to win more people over. He's the ultimate culture guy, the ultimate teammate, and the ultimate leader, so it's no surprise he's a fan favorite once again in New York. And he and Dart have become one of the most hilarious duos in football as of late.
Despite the massive divide in records between the NFC East rivals, it hasn't changed the relationship between Prescott and Winston. The former Heisman Trophy winner admitted in a clip that the pair were roommates at the Peyton Manning Passing Academy years back, and have stayed friends since.
Both signal-callers have gone on to have successful, but vastly different NFL careers. Famous Jameis has become a journeyman backup but is a more than viable starter if needed, while his division rival is a three-time Pro Bowler and remains among the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
It's nice to know that despite the rivalry, their friendship has never wavered. Winston admitted he texted him after Prescott became the Cowboys' all-time leader in passing yards, and it didn't take long for the veteran QB to get back to him, underscoring the mutual respect between the duo.
The first-round rookie might be the quarterback of the future, but Jameis still has a real role. And knowing that they have a respected insurance option should Dart's concussion issues persist is making Giants fans rest a little easier going forward.
