It doesn't seem like there's much animosity between John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens. Since he was unceremoniously fired and the New York Giants hired him as their new head coach, he's had nothing but good things to say about his old team, which at least confirmed that he has some class.
Not only is Harbaugh on good terms with the Ravens, but he could help them in a major way on the way out. While pitching potential offseason trades, ESPN's Bill Barnwell has the Giants and Ravens agreeing to a blockbuster trade that would send star pass-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux to Baltimore.
It's bad enough that this scenario has Harbaugh trading one of Big Blue's best players to his old team, but he's worth more than a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. I just know if the Giants trade Thibodeaux, it's just our luck that he'll flourish into a superstar in a better situation in the AFC.
Trading Kayvon Thibodeaux to the Ravens would be the worst possible start to the offseason for the Giants
Let's look at the players the Giants have moved from in recent years and how those decisions have aged. Leonard Williams? Super Bowl champion. Julian Love? Super Bowl Champion. Saquon Barkley also has a ring, and then you have Daniel Jones finally putting his potential on display with the Colts.
That is the worst possible track record, and trading Thibs is the perfect storm of stupid. The Ravens are already a roster built to contend: all they need is a star pass-rusher, and this is exactly what the 25-year-old was expected to become out of Oregon, and the scenery change would make it happen.
I don't care that the Giants have both Abdul Carter and Brian Burns in tow: sending Thibodeaux to Baltimore has no benefit for them. Jesse Minter and Anthony Weaver would definitely help turn his career around to the point that Harbaugh and Joe Schoen would look like fools this time next year.
One of the best defensive minds in the NFL, trading for a star defender with untapped potential? It's already written in the stars that this would end poorly in New York, especially with how bad the defense is, how Thibodeaux's trade value is at an all-time low, and how badly the Ravens need him.
The Ravens have been linked to both Maxx Crosby and Trey Hendrickson, and if you're a Giants fan, you should prefer them land either of those guys rather than plucking a star away from their Super Bowl-winning head coach's new team, so hopefully Barnwell's prediction doesn't come to fruition.
