The New York Giants are patiently waiting for Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson to make their destination for the 2025 season known, as the answers to these quandaries could end up influencing where Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll go in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Armed with the No. 3 overall pick in a year that may end up with them getting fired if they are unable to build a winning team, Schoen and Daboll need to find some clarity on the quarterback situation before they decide to build the rest of this roster.
The Giants should be able to build a team that is capable of making some noise and saving both Daboll and Schoen's jobs. At least, they will be if they follow the plan in this 3-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft.
New York Giants post-free agency 3-round NFL Mock Draft
Round 1, Pick 3: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado
Hunter is one of the few players who is actually deserving of the overused "once in a generation" tag, as there's a good chance that Hunter will compete for Pro Bowls and All-Pros as a cornerback while using his otherworldly athletic ability to play a good chunk of snaps at wide receiver.
Even if Hunter doesn't play both ways all the time, his speed, ball skills, and sharp football brain will make him a quality cornerback the second he steps on an NFL field. Hunter may be the best player in this class and the safest overall player 2025 has to offer.
Round 2, Pick 34: Grey Zabel, IOL, North Dakota State
John Michael Schmitz hasn't lived up to the hype as a second-round pick, and neither of New York's starting guards from last year were considered high-end players. While he played tackle in college, Zabel seems like the perfect player to kick inside and use his strength to dominate.
Zabel's flaws (arm length, struggles with speed), can be minimized if he is moved inside. As a run blocker, the Senior Bowl star's power and surprising mobility in his huge 6-6 frame should help make him an immediate starter who opens big holes for Tyrone Tracy.
Round 3, Pick 65: Jaylin Noel, WR, Iowa State
While Noel may be looked at as an inferior prospect when compared to teammate Jayden Higgins, he is still more than worthy of being a Top-75 pick. With great speed underneath and some electric playmaking after the catch, whoever is under center would greatly benefit from his presence.
Adding Hunter and Noel to a wide receiver room that already contains Malik Nabers and Darius Slayton could give the Giants their best collection of receivers since the end of the last decade. Noel may end up competing with Slayton for snaps by his second season.
Round 3, Pick 99: Tyler Shough, QB, Louisville
No matter what happens at quarterback, New York would be wise to draft a quarterback at some point. While Shough's long, winning college career will lead to him entering the NFL as a 25-year-old rookie, he has many of the traits teams want to see from their long-term starters.
Shough has surprising mobility for a 6-5 quarterback, and he can rip throws to all areas of the field with touch and accuracy. If he can improve his play when pressured, Shough may have a chance to eventually become the long-term starter in New York.
