With the NFL Draft just a month away, there has still been no clear indication about what the New York Giants will do with the third overall pick. Despite signing veteran quarterback Jameis Winston to a two-year deal, Big Blue double-dipped in the quarterback market, signing Russell Wilson to a one-year deal.
These next couple of weeks leading up to the draft are definitely going to be interesting. What will Big Blue do at the quarterback position? Is it Shedeur Sanders or bust? Well, there is one player who is highly coveted in this year's draft class. Many consider him generational. Of course, we're talking about two-way potential superstar Travis Hunter from Colorado.
It remains to be seen where the reigning Heisman winner may end up, considering the Tennessee Titans (who hold the first overall pick) are reportedly high on Cam Ward, and the Cleveland Browns, who hold the No. 2 pick, are also possibly looking to draft a signal-caller.
If Hunter does end up falling to the Giants, would they be willing to take a chance on the potential two-way stud? And would he be a good fit for the G-Men?
Bleacher Report views the Giants as the best fit for Travis Hunter
In an article for Bleacher Report, Gary Davenport sees Big Blue as the best team for Hunter to unleash his full potential as both a cornerback and wide receiver.
With the Giants already rostering the likes of Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Wan'Dale Robinson on offense, and a potentially dangerous secondary after the signings of Jevon Holland and Paulson Adebo, perhaps Davenport is on to something:
"The Giants added Paulson Adebo in free agency, but the cornerback corps could still use help. So could the team’s wideouts behind Malik Nabers. This isn’t to say Hunter should be a full-time two-way player. Only that the Giants have a need at both spots he plays," Davenport wrote.
It's no secret the Giants need help with both their offense and their secondary after they finished at the bottom of the league in practically every offensive category in 2024, as well as having a young secondary that struggled mightily last season. The additions of both Adebo and Holland certainly upgraded their secondary, but adding Hunter might just take it to new levels.
Hunter could also be another great addition to the Giants' receivers room, which has already been witness to what Nabers is capable of doing at the NFL level. It has the makings of an electrifying pairing.
After stringing together a great run at Colorado on offensive and defensive, why shouldn't the Giants take a shot at Hunter if he's available at No. 3?
Whether it's Wilson, Winston, or even Tommy DeVito throwing him the football, that offense could be pretty potent. Furthermore, adding him to a defense that finished dead last in the league with just five interceptions, Hunter and his nine career picks could help fix that for the G-Men.
