New York Giants fans can only laugh at what is going down in the City of Brotherly Love. The G-Men handed the Philadelphia Eagles their second consecutive loss on Thursday Night Football, and the rumor mill suggests the reigning Super Bowl champions could part with star wide receiver A.J. Brown.

The three-time All-Pro is on pace for the worst season of his career, and the offensive disconnect in Philadelphia is becoming hard to ignore. The Giants' 34-17 victory was dominant in every aspect, and first-round rookie Jaxson Dart looked far superior to Jalen Hurts in his first primetime start.
Both Brown and DeVonta Smith have been frustrated with both Jalen Hurts and new offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo's play-calling, and Thursday night only amplified those red flags. The Eagles are 30th in the NFL in total yards per game, and regression has them looking like a shell of a team that hoisted the Lombardi Trophy eight months ago.
Giants' Week 6 victory will force the Eagles to return to the drawing board
The 2019 second-round pick caught six passes for 80 yards against a weak New York secondary, yet his future remains in peril. His usage under Patullo has been so inconsistent that he's turned to social media to voice his displeasure, and his frustration has become a storyline that won’t go away..
Through six games of 2025, he's caught 25 passes for 275 yards and a touchdown—despite recording 45 targets. He was traded to Philly back during the 2022 offseason and has shined since, but Big Blue has the Eagles backsliding to their 2023 selves.
From a financial standpoint, it makes more sense for the Birds to trade Brown during the offseason, but if the stalemate continues, Howie Roseman could be forced to start listening to calls much sooner.
It’s possible Philly isn’t broken; the Eagles are just out of sync.

But every week that passes with problems piling up makes league decision-makers wonder about WR A.J. Brown.https://t.co/UuF6sTY8hX pic.twitter.com/bg1ZSWrES1
He's under contract with the Eagles through 2029, but a blockbuster deal for the three-time Pro Bowler could help a team like the New England Patriots firmly cement themselves as NFL contenders—and they have the cap space to take on his salary.
The Pats have won three games in a row, and second-year quarterback Drake Maye has been taking the world by storm, despite lacking a true WR1—and the Ole Miss standout would serve as exactly that.
In New England, his main competition for targets would be Stefon Diggs, Demario Douglas, and Hunter Henry, so Maye would pepper Brown with the targets he hasn't been getting in Philadelphia.
The once-lethal connection between Hurts and Brown has fizzled out, but a reunion with his former Titans coach, Mike Vrabel, would unlock the star wideout we are used to seeing. That doesn't mean the asking price won't be steep, though.
But the big winner here is Giants fans, who get to witness their bitter rivals unraveling after an embarrassing primetime defeat. And this rare display of Eagles' ineptitude is a fantastic way to kick off the week.
