The New York Giants and rival New York Jets find themselves in a similar situation once again ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. Both have Top 10 picks, and both of them are in quarterback hell once again.

While the Giants may be in a better position than the Jets when it comes to possibly drafting a quarterback, the lack of quality options in this class could make it very difficult to see a scenario in which both Miami's Cam Ward and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders are available at No. 3 overall.

One of the better free agent options on the market is Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and Chicago Bears first-round pick Justin Fields. ESPN analyst Benjamin Solak believes the Giants could be a perfect fit for Fields in the offseason, though they won't be the only team who has an interest in him.

Fields has been viewed as a "sleeper" option to quarterback the Jets, citing Aaron Glenn's reported preference for a mobile quarterback and his connection with college teammate Garrett Wilson. The two old rivals may be locked in an Old West standoff to land Fields.

Giants and Jets could fight it out for Justin Fields in free agency

Fields, who started six games for Pittsburgh last season, threw for 1,100 yards and five touchdown passes against just one interception while completing just under 66% of his passes. Fields also ran for 289 yards and an additional five touchdowns, showing major improvement from his Chicago tenure.

Fields brings incredible athletic ability and a strong arm with him, which should make him a great fit alongside emerging star Malik Nabers. His starts with Pittsburgh last year showed that he is gradually making some strides in fixing the flaws that ultimately brought a premature end to his Bears stint.

However, Fields still has issues with throwing accurately down the field and holding onto the ball too long, which led to him taking way too many sacks. Would Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen be willing to stake their professional reputation on a player who has been as wildly up and down as Fields in what could be their final season in town?

Fields might be better for the Jets, who clearly are looking for a stopgap before giving Glenn his pick of a franchise quarterback. The Giants need either a veteran who can elevate this roster or a long-term project, which could make it tough to envision a world where Fields puts on that blue Giants helmet.
