The first night of the 2025 NFL Draft can’t come soon enough. With the New York Giants slated to have the third overall pick in this year’s draft, there has yet to be a clear indication of what they might do with that No. 3 pick.

Even though New York addressed their quarterback needs by signing both Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson, as well as bringing back Tommy DeVito, Shedeur Sanders—and now even Jalen Milroe—may also be on their radar.

But even with reports that Brian Daboll, Joe Schoen, and Co. have met with star edge rusher Abdul Carter out of Penn State, who the Giants are reportedly very high on, could this insane blockbuster trade on draft night really come to fruition?

Can the G-MEN really make this draft night trade with the 49ers a reality?

This would be a major shake-up in this year’s draft. In a social media post from The 33rd Team, Marcus Mosher is predicting that the San Francisco 49ers will trade up to the Giants’ third overall pick to select Carter, while Big Blue would snag their 11th overall pick to draft Sanders—as well as the Niners’ 100th overall pick this year and their first-round pick next year.

This would be a monumental and franchise-altering trade for both sides, especially since there has been no indication by either the Giants or 49ers that they would be open to trading their first-round picks. But with San Francisco looking to vastly improve their defense after a disappointing season last year, and New York’s quarterback room not exactly being elite, this trade could still work out well for both teams.

Carter had a great run during his three-year stint with the Nittany Lions, compiling 23 career sacks, including a career-high 12 last season. His potential addition to a 49ers pass rush that already features Fred Warner and Nick Bosa would certainly make them the best defensive front in the NFL.

As for Sanders, the 23-year-old would definitely strengthen the Giants’ quarterback room, especially with Wilson and Winston already in place for him to learn from.

There’s just one problem: this trade could make it harder for Sanders to land in the Big Apple. According to the latest odds from both DraftKings and FanDuel, the New Orleans Saints have emerged as the betting favorites to draft Sanders at +300. The Giants sit just behind them at +350, with the Browns in the mix as well. That suggests Sanders might not be as available later in the draft as some have assumed—meaning if the G-Men want him, they might not be able to wait till 11.

It’s no secret Big Blue still needs a young quarterback despite already having both Winston and Wilson. And while Carter could be a great addition to a Giants defense that already includes Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence, and Kayvon Thibodeaux, this blockbuster trade could truly work out for both teams.
