It’s no secret the New York Giants need a quarterback for the future. One that can wear blue for the next decade and take this franchise somewhere it hasn’t been since Eli Manning—relevance. The team signing Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston was never about long-term answers. It was a temporary fix. A stopgap. Something to stop the bleeding.
With the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the expectation has been that the Giants would use it to find that next face of the franchise. Miami’s Cam Ward is expected to go first overall to Tennessee, which has put Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders in prime position to be the second quarterback off the board. Some have mocked him to the Giants, while others believe New York could pass entirely and go with someone like Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter instead.
That possibility just became a whole lot more interesting—and maybe even more likely. Vegas has weighed in, and the latest betting odds might be pointing Shedeur somewhere else.
New Orleans Saints are betting favorites to land Shedeur Sanders
According to both DraftKings and FanDuel, the New Orleans Saints are now the betting favorites to draft Sanders at +300. The Giants are right behind them at +350, followed by the Cleveland Browns (+425). That would suggest the Saints—who hold the No. 9 overall pick—are expected to land Sanders without even needing to trade up. Bold prediction… or foreshadowing?
It also throws a little cold water on the idea that Sanders is the guy at No. 3 for New York. Sure, the Giants could move down the board to grab him later, but if the Saints are lurking at nine, it complicates things. The G-Men may have to decide between reaching a little early or risking missing out altogether.
Veteran quarterback Derek Carr is still under contract in New Orleans through 2026, but no one’s pretending he’s the long-term answer. If anything, he’s a high-priced placeholder. New head coach Kellen Moore needs a young signal-caller to build around, and Sanders could be exactly that. Deion Sanders even gave the idea his blessing, saying: “I like the colors, I like the city, I like the food, I like the people. I like the possibilities.”
There had been buzz about the Giants trading back into Round 1 after going best player available at No. 3 to grab Sanders later, but these new odds might’ve just shut the door on that idea.
New York's draft board is still a mystery. All we know is the Saints are suddenly marching into the Sanders sweepstakes—and if Joe Schoen still wants to go after him, he may need to go all-in on Sanders at No. 3 to stop it.
