The New York Giants have started the 2025 season 0-3, and no one is surprised at the reason why that is. The offense simply has not been good enough to win games for this team, and we've seen the end result of that. It's now led to rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart getting thrown to the wolves in Week 4 as Brian Daboll and the rest of the front office hope he can save their jobs.
Dart has a tough task ahead of him because, again, this offense has not been good. When dishing out the blame for each of the 0-3 teams, Jared Dubin of CBS Sports gave the majority of the blame to the Giants offense with them receiving 40% of the blame while the defense, coaching, and offseason decisions each received 20% of the blame.
"New York's offense has looked functional for just one of its three games, and that game was against the decrepit Cowboys defense so it doesn't really count. Things were so bad that the Giants became the first team in the league to make a non-injury-related quarterback change, sending Russell Wilson to the bench."
Yeah, hard to argue with that. Dubin did then point out that the offseason decisions made little sense but when push comes to shove, the offense has been this team's biggest issue. The defense played decently enough that the Giants had a chance to beat the Chiefs in Week 3 but the lackluster performance by the offense cost them a chance at winning their first game.
Giants offense was so bad that Jaxson Dart decision made too much sense
The fact of the matter now is that Dart is being thrown into a very difficult situation. Sure, Wilson has not been good but neither has the offensive line. Dart will have to deal with that same issue when he steps out onto the field for the first time as a starter this weekend against the Chargers.
Even if the offense shows just a bit of improvement under Dart's guidance, that'd be highly encouraging moving forward. The team moved back into the first round to snag Dart because they thought he could be the right guy to fix the offensive woes. Now we'll have to see if he can live up to those lofty expectations.
