Is it really a surprise?

With Super Bowl 59 officially in the books and fans trying to cope with Saquon Barkley being a world champion, attention fully shifts to the New York Giants' offseason.

The team elected to keep general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll around after rumors swirled of their potential firings, and the coming days are absolutely crucial for Big Blue. At the moment, the Giants find themselves in position to possibly address the need for a franchise quarterback and give Daboll somethine he has not had since arriving in New York.

But, there is also potential for Daboll, Schoen and company to leave this offseason without a true franchise passer. Of all offseasons to own a top-3 pick, this year is maybe the worst of the past couple.

Still, New York is going to try and fix this. If you were to ask Vegas oddsmakers, though, the Giants have a long way to go yet.

Things can certainly change in an instant if the Giants were able to somehow land a capable starter, but this offseason, there aren't many to be had.

More Giants news:

Just how much would the needle move if the Giants were to go out and get someone like Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers? Of those three, which quarterback gives them the best chance to win? That's a difficult question coming off last season.

Maybe the best option is more of an under-the-radar move like signing Jameis Winston. Maybe, that's the best they could do.

If the Giants were able to select one of Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft, the chances of either rookie taking the league by storm are slim to none. Both will likely take some time to develop and, if either had been in last year's draft, we would have seen them off the board as the no. 6 or no. 7 quarterback in the 2024 class.

This isn't a strong year for quarterbacks, both in the draft and free agency. And, the latest odds prove New York has their work cut out for them.
