This seems like a huge risk!

The New York Giants have been so beset by bad quarterback play on the tail end of the Daniel Jones era that many of the 2025 NFL Mock Drafts that have already sprung up over the landscape seem to believe that Joe Scheon will try to draft another franchise signal-caller when given the opportunity. However, 2025 may not be the best year for such an endeavor.

Outside of Georgia star Carson Beck, there are very few no-doubt first-round passers in this class. Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and Texas' Quinn Ewers have potential, but both of their stocks are varying wildly. This could force the Giants to look elsewhere for upgrades, even if it means getting very unusual.

In the latest mock draft from Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports, the Giants, picking third in this exercise, are selecting USC quarterback Miller Moss. In this mock, Moss is the second quarterback off the board, as the Carolina Panthers selected Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 2 overall pick before them.

At this point in his four years at USC, Moss has started just three games and has 158 career pass attempts. However, the former 4-star recruit could be the next quarterback who rockets up draft boards after a season in Lincoln Riley's much-ballyhooed vertical passing game.

Moss spent the last two years with the Trojans as Caleb Williams' backup before winning the starting job. Moss came into the season with tons of momentum, as he threw six touchdown passes in a Holiday Bowl win against Louisville that put the rest of the NFL world on notice.

Moss has many of the traits past Riley quarterbacks have used to put up video game-type numbers. Not only does he stand out with his downfield accuracy, but he has a very quick release and solid touch. However, he is a small quarterback at 6-1 and barely over 200 pounds, and his arm strength is wholly average for the NFL.

If the Giants are to get their pick of quarterbacks high in the order, a more polished player with either the arm talent of Beck and Ewers or the accuracy of Sanders might be a better play than a wild card like Moss.

However, quarterbacks rise up the rankings every year. If Riley's offense helps Moss put up the same gaudy numbers as those who came before him, the Giants may end up interested in him.
