Shedeur Sanders looks nothing like an NY Giants QB target for 2025 NFL Draft
Despite NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones getting ready to (hopefully) lead Big Blue to a bounce-back year, loads of people have already written him off before the 2024 campaign even gets underway. Straight up, Giants fans have had it with Jones and after missing out on a replacement in the last NFL Draft, the hope is Joe Schoen will get things right next spring.
We're not going to give up on Jones, but for those who have, they've been eyeing several college quarterbacks as potential replacements. One of the names who has been mentioned quite a bit has been Colorado signal-caller Shedeur Sanders. Deion's son had a chance to make a statement against Nebraska in primetime, but the opposite has been the case: he has looked beyond rough:
Shedeur Sanders is looking nothing like a potential first-round QB vs. Nebraska
It indeed has been a rough go for Sanders vs. the Cornhuskers, as the Nebraska defense is dominating him. Midway through the first quarter, Sanders tried hitting his receiver in a bit of a desperation throw, but come on, he simply had to know better than this. Sanders threw the ball late, eyed down his receiver and put it in a place where the cornerback could come down with it.
Tommi Hill did just that, jumping in front of the pass and taking it back to the house for six. This kind of an errant throw remind you of anyone (cough - Danny Dimes - cough)? Okay, we're just joking there, but you kind of get the point.
Multiple mock drafts for 2025 have Sanders as a lock to be selected as a first-rounder and he's been headed to East Rutherford in many of those mocks. In the showdown with Nebraska, however, Dylan Raiola, aka Baby Mahomes, has been the one who is looking like a future stud in the NFL. He's only a freshman too!
We're not going to write Sanders off as a future NFL QB over one game, but at the same time, do we really think he deserves to hear his name called among the Top 10 picks? That's likely where the G-Men will be picking if they decide to move on from Jones next offseason and look for a new QB1 of the future. Sanders isn't the answer, period.
