When will it end? While the NY Giants have avoided serious injuries (knock on wood) thus far at training camp, the first practice with pads on didn't go according to plan. Not only did the offense have a shaky day, but star pass-rusher Brian Burns went down with a lower-leg injury.

According to The Athletic's Dan Duggan, Burns suffered an ankle/foot injury and he was being tended to by trainers. Luckily, it doesn't appear to be an issue that's going to result in him missing a ton of time, but it's still not what you want to see happen for your prized offseason addition:

While, yes, it's not a huge injury for Burns, don't be surprised if the Giants keep him off the field for a few days to not risk further injury. The G-Men were without multiple key defensive players for this latest practice session. The list included Dexter Lawrence (illness) and rookie safety Tyler Nubin (calf).

Nubin has been out for a little while, but the hope is that he'll be able to put the pads on soon. Lawrence should be in action once he kicks the bug he's got, but it's a little unknown what the status will be for Burns - we don't expect him to be out for too long, however.

Burns was the blockbuster addition for the Giants on the first day of free agency. Hearts were broken all over town when it was announced Saquon Barkley was signing with the Eagles, but Joe Schoen pulled off the trade for Burns not too long after, which was a pleasant surprise.

Now, fans in New York and New Jersey are ready to see him and Kayvon Thibodeaux go to work together. First, Burns needs to get back to 100 percent and recover from this unfortunate setback. Luckily, he should be back on the field sooner rather than later.
