There weren't many bright spots for the NY Giants in the Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. However, that doesn't mean that everything was a wash. For example, Dexter Lawrence was a force, Andrew Thomas was dominant from his left tackle spot and No. 6 overall pick Malik Nabers led the team in receptions and yards.

On the day, Nabers posted five receptions for 66 yards. It wasn't a breakout game by any means, but it still gave fans some hope of what could come the rest of the way. Moving forward, and especially against the Commanders in Week 2, the Giants need to be more aggressive in getting Nabers the ball downfield. How can they make that happen? Brian Daboll answered that question in the simplest of ways:

Brian Daboll knows the NY Giants need to get Malik Nabers the ball more

Apparently no rocket science degree is needed to know what to do with Nabers. In all seriousness, it will be on Daboll to make this happen, though. The play-calling was a mess for Coach Dabes in Week 1, no one is going to argue with that. At the same time, Jones needs to have some confidence in letting the ball rip.

He didn't take any shots in the Week 1 loss to the Vikings, something we weren't expecting. Throughout camp and even during his limited preseason action vs. the Texans, Jones was letting the ball fly. While he did throw two interceptions vs. Houston, followed by two more against Minnesota, he has to take some chances.

If the checkdowns continue, people are going to keep ripping him. Not only that, but guys like Nabers, Darius Slayton and Jalin Hyatt are going to be frustrated too. The G-Men need to perform a complete 180 from what we saw in the season-opener. Getting Nabers more involved is one thing, but playing it safe with short throws isn't the answer. Daboll knows what needs to happen vs. Washington.
