Daniel Jones has Giants fans convinced he's not QB1 material after loss to Texans

On one hand, it was just one bad half of football and perhaps we shouldn't overreact to how Daniel Jones played for the NY Giants against the Houston Texans. However, we also can't ignore the fact that No. 8 looked nothing like a signal-caller who is in Year 6 in the NFL.

In the Giants' 28-10 loss to the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium, Danny Dimes was a major disappointment. You can try and spin things and say he looked great in the second quarter, but keep in mind that was against mostly backups. This was Jones' chance to silence his haters and make a statement in his first game back following his 2023 torn ACL. The opposite was the case.

Giants fans are bashing Daniel Jones left and right after the loss to Houston

To open the game, Jones stared down Malik Nabers and Derek Stingley Jr. jumped the route, nearly pulling down an interception that should have been taken home for a score. On Jones' second drive, he then went ahead and tossed a pick-six with a wildly terrible decision.

In the first quarter, Jones completed two passes to NY receivers and two passes to Houston defenders, as he was also intercepted on a deep pass attempt intended for Jalin Hyatt. There are some people who are defending Jones on 'X,' but the majority of Big Blue supporters are ripping him:

For the day, Jones went 11-of-18 for 138 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. In the first quarter facing the Houston starters, he was 2-of-6 for 18 yards and the two picks. The Giants were at least able to enjoy Malik Nabers showcasing his potential, but the talk of the town right now is the rough play of their quarterback.

Before you know it, Week 1 of the regular season is going to arrive. The Giants will host the Vikings in the season opener and Jones is going to lead the offense out onto the field. However, he simply has to play better than he did vs. Houston.

Drew Lock will be QB2, while Tommy DeVito will also be in the QBs room. Brian Daboll is not going to put up with inconsistent or brutal play from whoever is running his offense. Jones has to step his game up moving forward. No more excuses for him, period.
