Darius Slayton being an incredible teammate is something NY Giants fans have grown quite used to. Slayton is never one to let someone bash a Big Blue player and think they can get away with it. When it comes to Daniel Jones, No. 86 is always there to have his back.
Just ask Patrick Peterson about that. Recently, the veteran cornerback surprised a lot of people by calling out Danny Dimes a bit. In case you missed it, Peterson gave Jones some praise, but then also said he doesn't provide anything too impressive to worry a defense. Really?
NY supporters were quick to remind Peterson of Jones slicing him up in 2022 and now Slayton has gone ahead and done the same while speaking to Keyshawn Johnson on his podcast. Slayton made it clear he has a lot of respect for Peterson, but at the same time, he also had to speak up for his signal-caller:
Darius Slayton owned Patrick Peterson over his Daniel Jones comments
"Then we played them again in the playoffs and he (Jones) set a playoff yardage record at the Vikings. He (Peterson) was on the team at the time, so itβs an interesting take. If it was maybe another team that we were maybe worse against, I would understand the take more, but itβs just an interesting take considering we saw them twice and there wasnβt a whole lot of us not scoring. It was an interesting take to me. Like I said he's entitled to his own opinion I just found it odd."Darius Slayton
In 2022, the Vikings topped the G-Men during the regular season thanks to a game-winning 61-yard field goal. In the Wild Card Round, though, the Giants and Jones were able to get their revenge, upsetting Minnesota in the postseason dance.
In that victory, Jones tossed for 301 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 78 more hashes on the ground. Jones was downright electric, while Peterson and the rest of the Vikings secondary couldn't slow him down. Has Peterson forgotten about that L the former No. 6 overall pick handed him?
That appears to be the case. Jones and the Giants are set to take on the Vikings once Week 1 arrives, this time at MetLife Stadium. Peterson is no longer on the team and he's actually looking for a new home. Following his Jones comments, however, don't expect Joe Schoen to reach out to him in the near future.
