Why in the world is this even a topic of conversation? You know it's the offseason when outrageous, absurd takes are brought up by NFL insiders. Leave it to Colin Cowherd and Co. to make us laugh this weekend.

Out of nowhere, Cowherd and his co-host Jason McIntyre were talking about the NY Giants and the possibility of the LA Chargers making a run at Brian Daboll next offseason if the AFC West side underperforms again. Wait, what?

That's indeed what the two discussed. Let's just knock out any speculation here. Daboll isn't going anywhere and it won't matter what the Chargers would put on the table for him. Just erase this clip from your memory if possible:

NY Giants head coach Brian Daboll is in East Rutherford for the long haul

As McIntyre and Cowherd noted, a lot of higher-ups in LA wanted Daboll to be the head coach for the team, but the Chargers ended up going with Brandon Staley in January of 2021. Things haven't gone according to plan for Staley with the Chargers. However, the same can't be said for Coach Dabes.

Last season, his first in the NFC East, Daboll powered the Giants to a 9-7-1 record and a trip to the postseason for the first time since 2016. Daboll is a rock star in New York and New Jersey, with the Big Blue supporters totally in love with the guy.

Daboll has helped change the culture for the G-Men, while also saving the career of quarterback Daniel Jones. Of course the Chargers would want Daboll if they ended up parting ways with Staley - any team would have interest in the reigning Coach of the Year.

What Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are building in East Rutherford is something special. Daboll will be in town for the long haul. No one, including the Chargers, will be able to get him to switch team colors.
