You've probably heard a lot about the strong play of NY Giants tight end Darren Waller at OTAs and nothing is going to be changing soon. Waller has been a beast for the Giants offense early on this spring and it's been awesome to see.
Second-year offensive coordinator Mike Kafka has gotten a great look at his new weapon and he's no doubt loving it. Waller has a ton of potential opearing in this new system and Kafka is confident he'll be able to live up to the hype once the regular season arrives.
Darren Waller continues to turn heads at NY Giants OTAs
"Yeah, he's a tremendous athlete. He makes you defend really all the depth of the field and width of the field. He can get over the second level and work second level defenders. He can get into the third level because he has tremendous athletic ability and speed. He is a really good blocker too, so you can get him in the mix in the run game. He adds an element that gives the offense a little bit of an edge to move him around and mix and match him with different matchups.""
That's an amazing quote from Kafka and you can tell from that clip above that he's so happy about having Waller in East Rutherford. Waller has received nothing but praise from coaches and teammates, including star quarterback Daniel Jones.
Jones and Waller are showcasing some solid chemistry early on and things are only going to get better for them once training camp and the preseason arrives. Waller is getting a ton of attention these days and he's surely quite happy himself.
There's going to be a lot of pressure on Waller once the regular season arrives, but if the former Pro Bowler can stay healthy, then it could be a huge 2023 season for him.
