In less than three weeks, the July 17 deadline will arrive for the NY Giants and Saquon Barkley. Will these two sides be able to meet in the middle and come to terms on a multi-year contract extension for the star running back?

Countless people are hoping this happens, with the long list of course including Daniel Jones. The star quarterback is quite close with No. 26, with the two finding time to workout together this offseason. From Jones' chair, Barkley deserves his payday and he sure is hoping it happens in the coming weeks.

Daniel Jones wants to see Saquon Barkley land his new contract

"Saquon is always working hard, he’s always going to be in good shape, he’s always going to look good. Anyone who has been around him is going to expect that from him. We’re talking all the time , staying in touch, getting together when we can. I know he’s got a lot going on, and I really hope the two sides can come together."

No one can argue that Barkley is invaluable for this offense. If the mutl-year deal doesn't get done, then Barkley will end up playing the 2023 campaign on the non-excusive franchise tag. With that, he'd bring home $10.1 million for the season.

Instead, Barkley wants his long-term security, which is why a 3-4 year deal is what the standout RB and his reps are looking for. Jones is in Barkley's corner, but it remains to be seen if general manager Joe Schoen will make his offensive playmaker happy in time.

CB Deonte Banks looks like a natural in a blue Giants jersey

While the countdown for July 17 is on a lot of minds, don't forget that we're also less than a month away from Giants training camp getting here. Before you know it, Week 1 of the regular season will be here too and the young talent on the roster will be ready to ball out. This includes No. 24 overall pick Deonte Banks, who already looks magnificent in Big Blue gear:

The first-round pick looks like a natural in that jersey. The expectations are high for Banks, as fans are ready to see him put on a show in the secondary opposite of fellow standout CB Adoree' Jackson. Wink Martindale is a huge fan of the youngster's game.

Banks knows teams will be looking to try and attack him early and often because of his youth, but we think the first-year defensive back will prove to be a stud for this team and play beyond his years in '23.
