Some NY Giants fans may have had some hope that wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins would end up with the team, but it's feeling quite unlikely these days. Hopkins would be the WR1 this team has been looking for, but with him looking to get Odell Beckham Jr.-type money, there's no way Big Blue can afford him.
This isn't a problem for other squads, though, as Hopkins is starting to schedule his free agency visits. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Hopkins will be taking a trip to Nashville this weekend to meet with the Titans front office.
DeAndre Hopkins will meet with the Tennessee Titans on Sunday
The Titans make plenty of sense for Hopkins, though Ryan Tannehill wasn't mentioned among the top quarterbacks he said he's a big fan of. Hopkins admires Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts and others, but Tannehill was never brought up.
However, D-Hop knows Tennessee head coach Mike Vrabel from their time in Houston together. Only time will tell if Vrabel is able to help the front office close a deal here, but there are several other teams who will be ready to get Hopkins in town for a visit as well.
Will the Giants be one of them? We're not expecting that to be the case. Recently, coach Brian Daboll said the G-Men would look into potentially adding Hopkins to the offense and do some research on him. However, if Hopkins indeed wants $15-18 million per season, NY should stay away.
Luckily for signal-caller Daniel Jones, general manager Joe Schoen brought in Parris Campbell, Jalin Hyatt, Darren Waller and other pass-catchers this offseason. The new-look offense has people excited for Week 1 to arrive. With that said, don't expect Hopkins to be making plays for Jones and Co. vs. Dallas during the first Sunday of the campaign.
