It really has been an offseason of NY Giants playmakers going hard in the weight room. Earlier in the week, we saw Evan Neal showcase his new body on social media. Leave it to running back Saquon Barkley to enter the conversation with an epic post of his own.
Barkley has been focused on keeping his body in top form despite being away from the G-Men during the offseason program. On Thursday, No. 26 took to Twitter to show people what he can do on the squat rack. As it turns out, Barkley can move 585 pounds, barefoot. Just how in the world is this even possible?
Giants RB Saquon Barkley squatting nearly 600 pounds is downright impressive
Barkley never skipping leg day has officially been confirmed. The Pro Bowl running back put up four reps at 585 pounds - that's six plates of 45 pounds on each side, plus the 45-pound bar. He could not have made this look easier either.
Even the people in the room were blown away by what he was able to do. Let's just hope this clip makes its way to Joe Schoen's office in East Rutherford. Hey, it might motivate the NY general manager to get something done with his star playmaker.
We don't have to remind you that the July 17 deadline is creeping around the corner for the Giants and Barkley to get something done for a long-term deal. Barkley is coming off a career-year, recording 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns. It's why he wants to be paid like one of the top RBs in the game.
For now, though, let's just focus on how much of an athletic freak Barkley is. It shouldn't be possible to move around that kind of weight and not struggle with it at all. Hats off to Saquon - the stud continues to impress both on and off the field.
