Gronk has Darren Waller prediction that NY Giants fans are going to love
The expectations are going to be sky high for new NY Giants tight end Darren Waller in 2023. After dealing with injuries in 2022, Waller is not only hoping to stay healthy from start to finish this campaign, but he's also hoping to remind NFL fans of how great he can be.
If there's anyone to trust - even if he's a former Patriot - when it comes to evaluating tight ends, future Hall of Famer Rob Gronkowski is surely at the top of the list. Gronk was asked recently about what kind of player the G-Men have landed in Waller, and his prediction for the Big Blue playmaker is exactly what fans are hoping to see:
Rob Gronkowski thinks Darren Waller is in for a big year with the Giants
""I say this, watch Darren Waller have a year this year. He's going to have a year. (Brian) Daboll is going to find a way to use him, utilize his skill set like no other. He's going to be all over the field." "
- Rob Gronkowski
Waller playing at a Pro-Bowl level would be fantastic not only for general manager Joe Schoen and head man Brian Daboll, but it would of course be good news for Daniel Jones as well. Schoen has worked overtime in bringing in weapons for Jones this offseason. Waller is one of the guys NY supporters are most excited about.
When he's close to 100 percent, Waller is easily one of the best tight ends in the game. Things didn't go according to plan for him in '21 and '22 with the Raiders, but he posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in '19 and '20.
Injuries have been a nightmare for him to deal with the past two campaigns, but the Giants will have a plan in place to put him in the best situation possible to succeed. Waller is a matchup problm for opposing defenses and that should be on full display this fall and winter in the NFC East.
We think Waller is in for a monster campaign. The good news here is that Gronk agrees. We can't wait to see what the veteran TE is going to be able to get done for Danny Dimes moving forward.
