Yeah, Saleh is clearly a huge fan of Malik Nabers.

Coming up this season, NY Giants No. 6 overall pick Malik Nabers is no question going to be a stud for head man Brian Daboll. Nabers, who put up video game-type numbers at LSU, was considered by many arguably the top wideout for the 2024 NFL Draft class.

Is Robert Saleh on that list? It's sure looking that way. Ahead of a joint practice with the Giants, Saleh was asked about the standout wideout. Saleh spoke quite highly of Nabers, making it clear that Big Blue has landed a playmaker. Perhaps this is a player Saleh and the Jets were hoping to land in late April too?

Robert Saleh knows the NY Giants landed a playmaker in WR Malik Nabers

"Dynamic, elite competitor. Freaky. You could argue that he could have been the No. 1 receiver, but he's a very special talent, (with a ) special mindset. Giants definitely got a good one. "

As we all know by now, the Jets were trying to move up to the Giants' No. 6 pick in the first round, but the G-Men weren't willing to budge. Per Ryan Dunleavy, Saleh and Co. were trying to move up to take either Nabers or Rome Odunze - they had another stud wideout in mind for Aaron Rodgers.

The Giants received multiple calls, but Schoen decided to stand pat. Thanks to an episode of Hard Knocks, we also saw Schoen telling Daboll the Giants were going to stick with Daniel Jones and bring in a weapon for him. That turned out to be Nabers, who certainly made a splash in the preseason Week 2 showdown vs. the Texans.

It's unknown if Nabers and the other starters are going to suit up in the preseason finale vs. Saleh and Gang Green, but it could be smart for them to get more time on the field to work on their chemistry ahead of the Week 1 tilt with the Vikings.

Before that, however, Saleh is going to get a close-up look at Nabers going up against his standout defense, including Sauce Gardner, at the joint session. Saleh's team is loaded and if Rodgers can stay healthy, they can certainly push for a division title. Still, you can tell by the way the head coach was describing Nabers that he wishes he was in Florham Park permanently and not East Rutherford.
