NFL Draft Order if season ended today: Giants moving on up after Saints loss

Could a new star QB make his way to East Rutherford this spring?

Following the loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, the NY Giants got some good news out of the 24-6 stomping: their position in the 2024 NFL Draft went up. Countless people have been calling for the team to tank to move up in the order.

As things stand, with the G-Men at 5-9 on the campaign, they hold the No. 6 overall pick in next April's first round. With that said, there are still a lot of things that can happen over the final three games of the season to move things in either direction.

NY Giants currently hold the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft

In multiple recent mock drafts, some analysts think general manager Joe Schoen could end up selecting Georgia tight end Brock Bowers with his top pick. However, we think a different SEC superstar would be the right choice if he's still on the board.

We're of course talking about LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, who took home the Heisman Trophy honor earlier this month. The quarterback position is totally up in the air for the Giants. Schoen has said he's going to stick with Daniel Jones when he's healthy, but a lot of Big Blue fans hate that idea.

Instead, those same people want to see Schoen bring in a new electric signal-caller to run the offense. That's where Daniels could potentially come in. If the Giants pick at No. 6, then they'll surely miss out on Drake Maye and Caleb Williams.

Michigan's J.J. McCarthy has also been mentioned as a potential target for the Giants, but we'd much rather see Daniels selected. There are going to be a lot of reports and rumors on who Schoen might be leaning toward, but we won't know until the end of the regular season which spot the Giants will end up with. Could a Draft Night trade be on the way too? You never know what might happen.
