Two weeks ago, there was major concern that NY Giants running back Saquon Barkley would sit out the season opener vs. the Dallas Cowboys. Luckily, Barkley surprised us all by signing the franchise tag and reporting for training camp.

You know who loved seeing that? Quarterback Daniel Jones. Jones needs Barkley out there if he wants to help this team get back to the postseason for the second consecutive winter. In an interview with Sal Paolantonio, Danny Dimes seemed downright ecstatic when talking about what Barkley's return means for the NFC East side:

Daniel Jones could not be happier Giants RB Saquon Barkley didn't holdout

"I was happy. I think he’s in a tough spot with the contract stuff. I think it says a lot about him for him to be here for this team. He means a ton to us on the field obviously with his playmaking and in the locker room as a leader just his ability to influence guys, impact guys and bring everybody up with him. "

With Barkley posting an impressive training camp too, it has only create even more buzz for this team leading up to the regular season. At this point in 2022, just about everyone assumed Big Blue would post 4-5 wins top.

Instead, Brian Daboll took home Coach of the Year honors after helping the G-Men go 9-7-1 and get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. The culture has completely changed in East Rutherford and big things are expected of this squad in '23.

In order for the Giants to get back to the postseason, Jones will need to live up to the hype of his new contract and Barkley is also going to have to put on a show. People can't wait to see what the Pro Bowl RB will get done this fall and winter - and you know Jones will be smiling from ear to ear whenever his friend makes magic happen with the pigskin in his hands.
