NY Giants fans panicking over Saquon Barkley injury takes shine off huge win
All we wanted was to enjoy this NY Giants win for at least 10 minutes, but there's already a dark cloud hanging over this team. Shortly before Graham Gano was able to drill his game-winning field goal, everyone saw star running back Saquon Barkley go down with an injury.
Barkley was fighting for extra yards, but his body rolled awkwardly and he hobbled off the field. He had to be helped to the bench and then he slammed his helmet in frustration. This has Big Blue supporters worried sick that he may have suffered a serious injury.
To make matters worse, Barkley reportedly walked out of the locker room and went straight to get X-rays. Yup, this update from The Athletic's Charlotte Carroll has us quite worried right now:
Saquon Barkley injury update has plenty of NY Giants fans concerned
For now, everyone can only hope and pray to the Football Gods that the X-rays will come back negative and Barkley won't miss extensive action. With the Thursday Night Football game against the 49ers right around the corner, though, it seems unlikely No. 26 will be able to suit up.
However, that could be considered a major victory for the Giants if Barkley is only forced to miss one game. He is incredibly valuable for this offense and the thought of Daniel Jones having to make plays without his friend by his side for a while would be a complete and total nightmare.
In the come-from-behind win over the Cardinals, we saw just how much Barkley means to this team. On the day, Barkley rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown behind a new-look offensive line that was without Andrew Thomas. Barkley added six receptions for 29 yards and another score.
Throughout his career, Barkley has battled multiple injuries for the Giants, which has been heartbreaking to see. He was able to stay fully healthy in 2022, which led to him posting career-highs in rushing yards and touchdowns. Just two weeks into the new season, there's major concern on his status for Big Blue moving forward. You've just got to feel for this kid.
