You're better than this, No. 26. Things just keep going from bad to worse for the NY Giants, as they're down big against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2. Who in the heck was expecting Arizona to be dominating the Giants on Sunday? We sure weren't.
Just when it looked like the Giants, down 17-0, were going to put some points on the board and build some momentum, a costly mistake from Saquon Barkley killed those hopes and dreams. The offense was finally humming, but Barkley dropped a ball that hit him right in the hands and Jalen Thompson was there for a Cardinals interception. There are no excuses for Barkley here:
Saquon Barkley is having a rough start to the season for the NY Giants
Again, you're better than this, Saquon. Jones put this toss right where it needed to be. This is a ball that Barkley normally catches in his sleep, but he had a case of butterfingers and the Cardinals defense was able to take advantage.
Jones sprinted his way down the field to prevent Thompson from taking it all the way back for six. The Giants defense was able to hold up, forcing a Matt Prater field goal following the interception. However, that FG put the Cardinals up 20-0 at halftime.
This is the second week in a row that a Barkley mistake has led to a Danny Dimes interception. In Week 1 vs. the Cowboys, Barkley looked to reel in a catch, but a Trevon Diggs hit forced the ball high into the air and DaRon Bland not only came down with it, but he finished things off with a pick-six.
When Barkley is on his game, he's one of the top running backs in the game. That's why fans were so excited he put the pen to paper on his revised franchise tag. Thus far this season, though, Barkley has been the opposite kind of player from what we saw in 2022. It's a damn shame to see.
