It's already starting for the NY Giants and head coach Brian Daboll? Last season, injuries were a nightmare for this team, as fans saw several playmakers go down from start to finish during the 2022 campaign. Now, Daboll already has a bit of a problem he needs to worry about.

According to insider Pat Leonard, linebacker Jarrad Davis recently underwent undisclosed surgery and he'll be out for an extended period of time. Davis, who is back in East Rutherford on a one-year deal, isn't a superstar by any means, but he was expected to push for a starting job during camp and the preseason. This is not good:

NY Giants LB Jarrad Davis will be sidelined long-term after undergoing surgery

Davis was signed off the Lions practice squad last year by the Giants and he saw plenty of significant action for Wink Martindale's defense. A former first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Davis started the regular-season finale vs. the Eagles (10 total tackles) and then the two playoff games for the G-Men.

He finished the year with 18 total tackles and 0.5 sacks for NY in '22. During spring OTAs and minicamp, Davis was seeing a ton of action running with the starters next to standout 'backer Bobby Okereke.

Again, Davis isn't a star player, but this definitely stings for Daboll, especially if Davis won't be available for the Week 1 showdown vs. the Dallas Cowboys. Daboll and Martindale will now look to Micah McFadden and Darrian Beavers to make even more noise once training camp arrives later this month.

McFadden appeared in all 17 games for Big Blue last season, finishing with 59 total tackles and two sacks. As for Beavers, he flashed plenty of potential last summer, but a torn ACL cut short his rookie campaign before he could even take the field for a regular season contest.
