Updated NY Giants injury report raises major concerns about Malik Nabers' status
This has to be a joke, right? Nothing has gone right for the NY Giants over the past week, with the loss to the Vikings feeling like rock bottom. Well, nothing like some new injury news to sink the morale of the fanbase even further. This time, it's No. 6 overall pick Malik Nabers that everyone is going to have to worry about ahead of the matchup with the Commanders.
With the G-Men hitting the practice field on Thursday, The Athletic's Dan Duggan has reported that Nabers was a limited participant. So, what's bugging him? It's a knee injury for Nabers, which is obviously the last thing anyone wants to see for the youngster:
NY Giants WR Malik Nabers dealing with a knee injury is a sick joke
This feels like a gut punch. According to Pat Leonard, Nabers wasn't looking like himself in the locker room and this injury has to be the reason why. You've got to feel for the kid - he just played in his first regular season game and he's fired up about trying to help the G-Men get back on track by taking down Washington.
However, it's a bit up in the air if he's going to be playing on Sunday or not. Should Nabers miss the action, it'd be a major blow for the offense and sixth-year quarterback Daniel Jones. A lot has been said about Jones and his rough play against Minnesota.
In order for him to showcase a major improvement, he's going to need his offensive weapons to ball out, with Nabers of course being his No. 1 target. Without Nabers on the field, though it's still unknown if that will be the case or not, the mountain is going to be tougher to climb for Danny Dimes.
Over the next couple of days, more information on Nabers will be coming on. The hope is that a nightmare situation will be avoided with the first-rounder and his knee will be just fine to take on the Commanders. We'll find out soon enough if this knee issue is minor, or if it will keep him out of uniform for some time.
