The New York Giants are undefeated in the preseason with a decisive 34-25 victory over the Buffalo Bills in the first week. It was a fantastic showing from multiple angles, but none brighter than the early connection between Jaxson Dart and Lil'Jordan Humphrey.
Dart showed great promise and proved to be as advertised in his first time at the NFL level. He slung the pigskin around for an impressive 12 for 19, for 154 yards and a touchdown to Humphrey. Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston also showed out, which adds some more fuel to the fire that is this heated QB battle for the 2025 season.

But, where does the first preseason victory leave Humphrey on the depth chart? Did his value increase going into week two against the Jets? In Saturday's afternoon contest, he hauled in two catches for 36 yards and that touchdown on four targets.

This magical ball from Dart to Humphrey sparked the imagination of millions of Giants fans that there is something brewing here. There is a chance that we could see these two link up in a regular-season game at some point this season, and it is safe to say that it could be a good sign for the future.
Dart has a tough road ahead of him, with two starting-caliber quarterbacks ahead of him on the depth chart. It will take one of two things to get him to QB1, and that is either injury to both Winston and Wilson, or the G-Men are way out of playoff contention.
But for Humphrey, he holds his playtime in the palm of his hands. He is currently listed as the fifth-string Wide Receiver. He is behind Malik Nabers, Wan'Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton, and Jalin Hyatt entering the 2025 season. With two more games to make a lasting impression, he could hop in front of a couple of those names, with some of them currently suffering from injury.
It wasn't too long ago that his roster spot was in jeopardy. But his undeniable connection with Dart seems to be helping him out significantly.
Slayton and Hyatt will be under a close eye at practice this week, as they both were sidelined in the first game. Obviously, Humphrey will not overtake Nabers as the first-string wide-out, but he could overtake Slayton or Hyatt. If he can get more reps in with Dart, there is a chance that these two could be great for each other.
