The National Football League is quickly turning into the National Rugby League. At least, it should be after New York Giants fans had to sit and watch four straight non-football plays from the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football. It's a joke. And the officials are at the center of it.
In what’s becoming the most annoying play to watch in sports, the tush push made an appearance early and far too often in the first half of the Giants’ Week 6 primetime matchup against the Eagles.

Up 13-10, with the Eagles driving down the field, the G-Men faced four straight tush push plays from the Eagles, ultimately resulting in a touchdown to take a 17-13 lead. Not only was it frustrating to watch from an aesthetic perspective, but it’s becoming more obvious by the snap that it’s just a cheap play that utilizes chaos to mask blatant false start penalties. There’s no other way around it.
Giants get screwed by refs for not calling blatant false starts against Eagles
The infamous play is on the hot seat. Much has been made about the tush push — it’s dangerous, it’s ugly, it’s not football. But the biggest argument against the play is the fact that it’s a false start every time that never gets called. Every. Single. Time. Just look at this blatantly obvious clip.
Philly fans will say, “they hate us, ‘cause they ain’t us,” but the reality is that it’s a clear unfair advantage that they’re abusing because their offensive creativity can’t make plays when the field’s tight any other way. It’s actually an indictment of how inept their offense is if you really think about it.
Philly is the best at it because they are the best at not getting flagged for the blatant false starts happening in real time that are getting missed by the refs. They are openly screwing the fans and the G-Men out of a fair contest. Look no further than Thursday night’s embarrassment.
Head coach Brian Daboll was livid on the sidelines, screaming at the refs to take notice... which of course, they didn't.
It’s only the first half. Expect more of this nonsense to come Big Blue’s way — and for the refs to do absolutely nothing about it. Giants fans are in for a long night.
