The New York Giants’ quarterback situation is a disaster. This much we know. As of right now, the only guy under contract is Tommy DeVito, and while general manager Joe Schoen is out here waiting on Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, or whoever is left standing, DeVito is busy doing his own recruiting.

The soon-to-be third-year quarterback was spotted working out at Alkeme Performance in Florida, training alongside some serious talent—most notably, free-agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Now, maybe it’s just a coincidence, but given the Giants’ need for a veteran receiver, it’s hard not to read between the lines.

The Giants have been linked to Diggs in the past, and with the wide receiver market drying up, this could be a sign that Schoen is ready to make a move. If Diggs wants to team up with a rookie quarterback in New York, what better way to get comfortable than running routes with the only quarterback currently on the roster who knows the system?

Could the Giants actually make a move for Stefon Diggs?

The Giants need to add another playmaker to their offense, and Diggs would be an awesome fit. Malik Nabers is already locked in as the No. 1 guy, but Big Blue still needs another legitimate threat to round out the passing attack.

They re-signed Darius Slayton to a three-year, $36 million deal, but he's more of a WR3 than a WR2.

At 31 and coming off a torn ACL, Diggs isn’t the same guy who dominated in Buffalo, but he’s still a reliable weapon who could be a major asset for a young quarterback. If the Giants draft Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward, giving them a proven receiver like Diggs would make life a lot easier.

DeVito working out with Diggs might not mean much of anything… but it might mean everything. At the very least, it’s a reminder that the Giants still have holes to fill. If Schoen wants to give his next quarterback a real chance, pairing Nabers with a veteran like Diggs wouldn’t be the worst idea.

And hey, if this is DeVito’s way of helping the front office seal the deal? Respect.
