New York Giants: Victor Cruz

Over at Giants.com, some of the veteran’s discussed cut day, including Victor Cruz. Of course, Cruz is a former UDFA from the 2010 class that has become a great New York Giants receiver and valuable overall member of the team on Sunday’s. Here’s the link:

WR Victor Cruz discusses cut day

Victor Cruz said:

“It’s sad man. Because you build these relationships with guys and you build these friendships with guys — and then the reality is that some of them have to go — and some of them ‘do’ go. And then you understand it’s part of the business and you get that point, but it’s still sad to see some of your friends — um —  that you have build these relationships with and friendships with, uh, it’s sad to see them go to the wayside like that. But you understand that it’s a business and you hope that guys get jobs elsewhere and continue to play this game that they love.”
Read those words. Sure they’re said a lot this time of year, but it’s really easy to forget these are real people — often times still young men — that are losing their [temporary] battle for their NFL dreams. Watching that whole interview, you can see the typical football veteran speak in Victor Cruz. However, you can also see the former kid that defied all the odds and the current sympathy he has for his friends that didn’t feel that same elation.

New York Giants: On to 53

Moving forward, the Giants are playing the New England Patriots in their fifth and final preseason game. Then it’s on to Detroit. On Monday September 8th, the Giants will battle the Lions on Monday Night Football with their final 53 after all the dust settles.

Who are the remaining cuts? What moves will the G-Men make as 31 other NFL rosters also make the tough decisions? Regardless of the answers, the regular season is getting really close.

Giants Nation, how exactly will the team proceed in carving this roster down to 53?
