Rashad Jennings Fantasy Football Week 12 Projection

After missing four games this season due to a knee injury, New York Giants’ running back Rashad Jennings made his way back in the mix last Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. Although his return was one that was needed, he had a very ineffective game posting 59 rushing yards on 18 carries on a defense that is sixth in the league in rushing yards allowed. As of last Wednesday, he was removed from the injury report completely and should have a much better game against the upcoming Dallas Cowboys.

The Giants face a less stiffer test, at least defensively, against the Cowboys in the Sunday Night primetime game this weekend.

While quarterback Eli Manning should put up a better performance this weekend, Jennings should be relied up to keep his opposing tailback in NFL-leading rusher DeMarco Murray on the bench.

Jennings missed the first matchup between these two bitter NFC East rivals so this will be the first look that the Cowboys will have at him this season.

Per Yahoo! Fantasy Sports standard scoring with .5 point-per-reception, the Cowboys are 20th in the NFL in terms of fantasy points allowed to running backs per game with 19.4 points. Jennings should be relied upon early with Manning having a clunker of a performance last week.

Considering that Jennings is also the team’s best third-down running back with his skills in the passing and blocking-game so expect him to haul in at least a few dump offs and will get the bulk of the carries (assuming at least 18 touches or more).

Fantasy owners should consider putting Jennings into their lineup at least as a RB2 or flex option considering he should be able to contribute a good amount of fantasy points. Of course one key factor in his performance depends on how well the Giants’ offensive line holds up.

Offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz should finally be back to bolster up the o-line and be an anchor to help setup running lanes and key blocks.

Overall, this should be another classic game that could go either way. One thing is for sure, Jennings should be a key factor in hopefully ending the consecutive losing streak the Giants desperately want to get out of.
