Tom Coughlin: Happy Birthday Coach

facebooktwitterreddit

On this day in 1946, Tom Coughlin was born in Waterloo, New York. Which makes August 31, the birthday of one of the most important figures in the history of the New York Giants. Hopefully the Giants can have a rebound season to reward their beloved coach.

The Giants coach is under a lot of pressure going into the 2015 regular season. After two losing seasons the Giants need Coughlin to get this team on the right track. Coughlin is under contract with the team through 2016.

Coughlin is a living legend in the game of football and an idol in the ranks of coaching. He is and always has been a man of character and integrity. Coughlin has always done things a certain way, and he expects a lot from himself and the people around him.

Coughlin has had many coaching jobs. He was an offensive coordinator at Syracuse. He was the head coach at Boston College. He was a position coach with three different NFL teams including the Giants late in the Bill Parcells era. He was also the first head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

But the job that defines his storied career is being the head coach of the New York Football Giants. Coughlin has led the Giants to two Super Bowl championships. He has won three Super Bowls with the Giants, winning one as a wide receivers coach.

So I’d like to say happy birthday to Coughlin who is a great coach and an even better man. A man is defined by his passion. I can only hope that I am as passionate as Coughlin is when I reach the age of 69. Happy birthday coach, Giants Nation loves you.
