NFC East: Crown There For The Taking

The New York Giants worst game of the year was a 27-7 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles just got blown out 45-14 by the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. The Eagles are now 4-7 and their season is spiraling completely out of control. Some are even speculating that Eagles head coach Chip Kelly could be fired.
Since the Eagles took down the Giants on Monday Night Football they have lost three out of four games. Their only win since was against the Tony Romo-less Dallas Cowboys.

The Giants have gone 2-2 since that game. They had a heartbreaking last second loss to the New England Patriots and a 52-49 loss to the New Orleans Saints. The Giants have been the more competitive team. They battled tooth and nail with the Patriots who happen to be both undefeated and reigning champions. Neither team has set the world on fire since their October meeting but the Giants are going in a much better direction than the Eagles.

The Eagles are not out of the race for the NFC East. If the inconsistent Giants slip up they could easily catch up. The season finale could still be a win and get in situation. The Eagles have had the Giants number lately so there would be some anxiousness about that game.

The Eagles may have won 27-7 but they were lucky to win that game. It’s a ridiculous but true statement. The Eagles had four turnovers in that game, three of which were Sam Bradford interceptions. The Giants had every opportunity to beat the Eagles on that October night but got in their own way.

If the Giants finale against the Eagles is a meaningful game they can win it. The Giants just need to protect Eli Manning so he can torch the Eagles horrible secondary. That was the reason the Giants lost the first battle, the offensive line.

It looks like the Eagles may take themselves out of it though. The 4-6 Washington Redskins are now in second place. The Giants play the Redskins on Sunday. This is a chance to take a commanding lead in the division. The Giants just need to rattle off some wins. If they do that, nobody will catch them in the NFC East.
