Webb could very well prove himself to be an NFL starting quarterback down the road, but “hindsight is always 20-20.” Big Blue could not afford to waste the No. 87 overall pick in the draft on a quarterback that could be the future of the franchise. And the selection feels eerily similar to Reese’s fourth-round selection of Ryan Nassib in the 2013 draft.

Nassib is currently a free agent after finishing out his rookie contract with the G-Men. The Giants are now looking at a top three pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, and with Manning turning 37-years-old this January, quarterback is one of the top priorities.

If the Giants select a quarterback in the first two rounds of the 2018 draft, Reese’s decision to select Webb will always be viewed as a waste. A third-round draft selection is not used on a player expected to be a permanent backup. And if New York selects Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, Josh Allen, or Baker Mayfield this offseason, that’s exactly what Webb will become.
