With the No. 67 overall pick, the NY Giants decided to once again select a player for their offensive line as they drafted guard Joshua Ezeudu out of North Carolina. At 6-4 and 308 lbs, he’s the exact kind of talent they needed to bolster their offensive line. The Giants definitely needed to keep that momentum going on their offensive line in this year’s draft after selecting tackle Evan Neal in Round 1.

It’s no secret that to win football games, it all comes down to the battle in the trenches. The Giants have had abysmal play from their offensive line for the past few years now and it’s great to see new general manager Joe Schoen try to nip this in the bud. So far, as the Giants are in the middle of this year’s draft, they’re making decent moves.

Of course, it remains to be seen how all these new draft picks will pan out over the next few years but Ezeudu should immediately be able to step in and take care of business as early as this season. He has the size and a high football IQ to be molded to be a future anchor on the Giants’ offensive line.

The NY Giants get it right by drafting offensive guard Joshua Ezeudu on Day 2

Ezeudu is very coachable and best of all, brings some nice versatility to the table. He has experience at both tackle and guard which should bode well for his chances to get NFL experience in both positional groups. As a potential future plug-and-play offensive lineman, with the right mentoring, coaching, and teaching, Ezeudu has the makings to be a reliable starter in a few years.

Hopefully, things pan out with Ezeudu as he’s a typical work-in-progress kind of player that should develop nicely over time. At any rate, even if he’s used as quality depth on the Giants’ offensive line it is a great situation to be in considering the history involving injuries and inconsistent play.

The Giants have traded down to acquire even more draft picks in this year’s draft. They could very well add another offensive lineman in the later rounds just to ensure they have some new talent in the mix to hopefully end all the woes they’ve endured over the past few years.
