Day 3 is finally here as the NY Giants are hoping to end the 2022 NFL Draft on a high note. As always, Day 3 is a very important one for general managers all across the league. The hope is they can find those hidden gems in the rough that just need that extra bit of coaching and mentoring to turn into quality players in the future.

New general manager Joe Schoen got rave reviews for Day 1, mixed ones for Day 2, and well, Day 3 should hopefully bring more clarity to see what the big picture is. It’s no secret that the Giants’ big board has plenty of players that should fill in specific roster needs and hopefully, they draft players ready to step in and be difference-makers.

It looks like the Giants are probably done with drafting offensive linemen, although taking another center today might make sense in the grand scheme of things. For the most part, the Giants definitely need to draft some more offensive weapons right off the bat. Even though they drafted wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson yesterday, the Giants’ offense needs more firepower.

NY Giants will draft a new RB, TE, and LB on Day 3 of the 2022 NFL Draft

If I had to make three bold predictions heading into Day 3 for the Giants, it would be…

  • Draft a running back
  • Draft a decent tight end
  • Draft the best available run-stuffing linebacker

The Giants don’t know what they’re getting in Saquon Barkley in 2022 as it’s imperative they draft a dual-threat running back that can make magic happen on the ground or through the air as a receiving option. It was very surprising the Giants didn’t try and take a tight end yesterday as Trey McBride was still available when they made their No. 43 overall pick but they’ll definitely take one on Day 3.

Besides adding some new offensive weapons, expect to see the Giants add some quality depth at linebacker, especially one that specializes in stopping the run. A solid run stuffer or two from this year’s draft is exactly what the Giants’ defense needs for the future, especially to boost their 3rd and short situations.

Hopefully, after a great Day 1 and a very weird Day 2, Day 3 brings some better selections and reactions by fans to put the final bow on this year’s draft. One can only imagine all the hard work Schoen and the Giants put into everything as here’s to this new draft class exceeding our wildest expectations.
