You can try, but you won’t find a bigger believer in Jaxson Dart than Brian Daboll. Dabs was the one who pushed the New York Giants to trade back into the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft to select Dart, and his energy due to having his hand-picked quarterback has been palpable all offseason.

And on national television to kick off Week 6, Daboll's belief was rewarded in one of the most vindicating victories in franchise history. The 22-year-old enjoyed his best NFL start in a 34-17 thrashing of the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, and Dabs was quick to praise the rookie quarterback after the victory.

It's become abundantly clear that Daboll wanted to start the former Ole Miss standout Week 1, but didn't want to risk butchering his development. While the former Coach of the Year has downplayed similarities between the rookie and Josh Allen, his success molding him into New York's QB of the future could be what saves his job—at least for now.

Brian Daboll and Jaxson Dart have a relationship like no other

In his first career primetime start, Dart went 17-for-25 with 195 passing yards and a touchdown, and added 58 yards and another touchdown on the ground. After the Week 5 loss to the Saints left a bad taste in fans' mouths, Week 6 marked an all-around dominant showing.

The G-Men turned the ball over five times in New Orleans, yet didn't turn the ball over once against the Eagles. Daboll's only moment of frustration came when Dart went to the blue medical tent and Russell Wilson replaced him for a few snaps — and quickly sailed a third-down pass into the turf.

The 50-year-old coach took plenty of heat for moving on from Daniel Jones, but those concerns have all but vanished. Dart is growing into the role quicker than anyone anticipated, and his quick command of the offense has given the Giants an identity that’s been missing since Eli Manning retired.

Daboll's relationship with Dart has been pivotal throughout the season, and the No. 25 overall pick is the first and only quarterback the G-Men have had who is capable of fulfilling his vision and running his offense.

It's no secret that the Utah native is the present and the future of the New York Giants, and he's looked the part. That doesn't mean it won't come without growing pains, but the synergy between quarterback and head coach is bringing the energy and toughness back to East Rutherford.
