Eli Manning and Tom Brady rekindle rivalry in most hilarious way possible
By Matt Sidney
The New York Giants may be in rebuild mode these days, but one thing remains constant: Eli Manning’s dominance over Tom Brady. Two of the most iconic quarterbacks in NFL history, took their legendary face-offs to social media this week. The result? A hilarious exchange that proves both still know how to throw a good jab off the field.
It all started with Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion, casually showing off his physique in a shirtless fishing photo on Instagram. Brady, holding what can only be described as a modestly-sized fish, captioned it with a nod to Buffalo’s frigid weather, poking fun at the Bills’ snowy game the night before.
Enter Eli Manning. The younger Manning brother, forever enshrined in NFL lore for his two Super Bowl wins over Brady, couldn’t resist taking a shot. Manning reposted Brady’s picture alongside his own fishing photo, where he proudly displayed a much larger catch. His caption? “Cute Minnow, Tom!”

Never one to back down, Brady brought the rivalry full circle with his response. “You use a helmet to catch that one too?” he quipped, referencing the infamous David Tyree “Helmet Catch” in Super Bowl XLII. It’s the play Giants fans will never let Brady live down, and clearly, he hasn’t forgotten either.
That game, of course, was one of the greatest upsets in NFL history. Brady’s undefeated Patriots were poised to cap off a perfect season at 19-0. Instead, Manning and the Giants shocked the world, with Tyree’s miraculous catch leading to Plaxico Burress’ game-winning touchdown.
Brady had to wait four more years to avenge that loss, only to run into Manning and the Giants again in Super Bowl XLVI. Different year, same result. Manning orchestrated another fourth-quarter comeback to hand Brady yet another heartbreak.
For all of Brady’s GOAT credentials, Eli Manning remains one of the few quarterbacks to repeatedly get the best of him. Manning finished 3-2 against Brady, including those two Super Bowl wins that secured his place in Canton. And don’t think for a second that Eli doesn’t enjoy reminding everyone about it.
Manning’s post was the latest in a long line of playful trolling, part of his post-retirement persona as the NFL’s king of subtle trash talk. Brady, now in his first season as a Fox analyst, has taken to the banter just as smoothly as he took to those Lombardi Trophies.
Will this social media sparring match continue? Maybe not, but one thing’s certain: the Brady-Manning rivalry isn’t just about football anymore. It’s a permanent part of NFL culture, from the field to Instagram feeds. For fans, it’s the gift that keeps on giving.
