It took Russell Wilson one social media post to signal new era in New York

The New York Giants' dire need for a quarterback took a bit of a backseat with the signing of 13-year veteran Russell Wilson. The G-Men were clearly in the market for a quarterback after trotting out Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, Tommy DeVito, and Tim Boyle last season.

Big Blue surely searched under every rock trying to find a capable quarterback, attempting to trade for Matthew Stafford before hitching their wagon to two older signal-callers, Aaron Rodgers and Wilson himself. Patience wore thin on Rodgers after he was trying to force his way onto the Minnesota Vikings, so Joe Schoen pulled a fast one and turned to Jameis Winston.

However, Winston clearly wasn't enough, so the front office pivoted again and secured one of the last remaining starting-caliber options left on the market. It's quickly become a moderately exciting time to be a Giants fan and member, but the fans and organization aren't the only ones excited.

If Wilson's social media account is any indication, he's also pretty pumped to be back in a familiar setting.

Russell Wilson's social media post all but confirms he's ready to be a NY Giant

Wilson posted, "Been here before... can't wait to do it again," with a lovely image of Metlife Stadium in a homage to his Super Bowl XLVIII win over the Denver Broncos in East Rutherford back on February 2, 2014:

In what was Wilson's lone Super Bowl win, the Seattle Seahawks beat the brains out of the Peyton Manning-led Broncos to the tune of 43-8. The Ponies were out of the game after the first snap when the Seahawks recovered a fumble in the endzone for a safety. They didn't look back, securing a 36-0 lead before Denver even got on the board.

Russ is no longer that player. Fans and teammates shouldn't expect him to be and should level-set expectations. However, he is still smart, experienced, and talented enough to win games and keep the G-Men competitive. And honestly, that’s more than any quarterback since Eli Manning has been able to say with a straight face.

Here's to hoping Russ still has a little bit of that 2014 magic left in him this season. Because if he does, MetLife might just witness one heck of a second act.
