The New York Giants' decision to re-sign Jeremaine Eluemunor to a three-year, $36 million deal originally felt unlikely. He was believed to be as good as gone in free agency, but ultimately, his desire to stay in New York won out, even though the Giants drafted his long-term successor weeks later.
Eluemunor will be the Giants' starting right tackle for the foreseeable future, but that didn't deter them from drafting Francis Mauigoa with the 10th pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. He'll play right guard until they kick him out to right tackle, but Eluemunor doesn't mind the fact that Big Blue drafted Mauigoa -- in fact, he's embracing it.
The 31-year-old opened up to the New York Post about his new teammate and had nothing but good things to say about him. He knows the Giants' offensive line will be better off having him on the right side, and appears ready to offer his rookie teammate the guidance you'd expect from a veteran.
"He's a large dude, which kind of fits my game, fits my mentality. I'm really excited to have him," Eluemunor said. "I've been teaching [teammates] the ropes for a while now -- I'm pretty good at it -- so I think we'll create a good partnership."
Jeremaine Eluemunor knows the Giants drafted a future stud in Francis Mauigoa
In their first offseason with John Harbaugh, New York has set out to get bigger and tougher on the offensive line. So just like Eluemunor mentioned, a 6-foot-6, 329-pound OT is an absolute behemoth. And he's significantly better than Greg Van Roten or Daniel Faalale will be at right guard.
Part of the reason it was so crucial for the G-Men to retain the Texas A&M product is that he offers a fantastic locker room presence. He said he's been a mentor to his teammates for a while now, so even if Mauigoa steals his job sometime in the future, it's his duty as a teammate to help him thrive.
The 20-year-old was looked at as arguably the best offensive tackle in the 2026 draft class, but his ability to kick inside will forge an elite partnership on the right side. And he thinks this dynamic duo can be so productive it can catapult Mike Bloomgren's offensive line into one of the best units in the NFL. They're both maulers, and they're ready to die for this team.
Harbaugh's vision all offseason has been to bolster the trenches and re-establish the Giants as a physical force, and Eluemunor's words prove that he and Mauigoa will help achieve that goal and keep Jaxson Dart protected together.
