New report uncovers Brian Daboll’s almost-legendary Jaxson Dart swing

The New York Giants finally have something special going on, and at the center of the excitement resides rookie quarterback sensation Jaxson Dart. He's only been the starter for three weeks, and he's already made it all but impossible to level-set expectations. It's time to go off the deep end.

The 22-year-old has taken an unwatchable, uninteresting franchise and put life back into it. The former Ole Miss star has proven that no moment is too big — and he's backed that up with wins over playoff-caliber teams like the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles. His early resume already has him sharing company with Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, and Patrick Mahomes. Not bad.

So, it's great that general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll traded back into the first round to select him 25th overall. But a surprising report from ESPN NY radio host Gary Myers revealed Daboll was so gung-ho on Dart that he was willing to go full-send and take the signal-caller third overall, passing on Abdul Carter.

Brian Daboll knew Jaxson Dart was the guy before anyone else

Maybe Dabs knows what he's doing, after all? Drafting with that level of conviction all but confirms the fourth-year head coach has more of an understanding of what he's doing than fans are led to believe. If he was willing to take Dart third overall — over Carter — then maybe it truly was just as simple as giving the 50-year-old enough time to find his guy.

That's been the knock on the perceived quarterback guru for his tenure in East Rutherford — if he's this quarterback whisperer he's supposed to be, how come he couldn't do it with Daniel Jones?

Well, through three Dart starts, that question seems to have answered itself: Daboll needed to hand-pick his guy to make it work.

Schoen and Dabs have been dragged through the mud and then some over the past couple of years... and deservedly so. But if the rookie sensation keeps winning, it'll all be worth it. Kudos to the duo for knowing Russell Wilson wasn't the answer and pulling him quickly. They needed a quarterback to save them, and it was painfully obvious after three Wilson starts, the 36-year-old wasn't it.

Now, it's time to move on — time to move on from the Daniel Jones tales. Time to bury the Saquon Barkley nightmare. Time to move past whatever Darren Waller has been saying about his time in New York. It's a new dawn, it's a new day. And Giants fans are feelin' good.

While Big Blue didn't end up taking Jaxson Dart third overall, they ended up with a pretty awesome setup anyway. With Carter and Dart both in the fold, the future is brighter than it's been in decades. And Daboll might just be the guy to see it through after all.
