Big Blue Nation, if there were ever a time to finally commit to Duolingo, this is it. Your New York Football Giants are officially going international.
Longtime Giants insider Gary Myers shared on social media that Big Blue is headed overseas in 2026, with Munich looking like the most likely destination, especially given the team’s Global Markets Program rights in Germany:
Big news for @Giants Nation: Get your passports ready. I've been told Big Blue will be playing an international game in 2026. Not sure where or against who but Giants have marketing rights in Germany so could be Munich, where they lost to Panthers in '24. NFL has 9 international…

That market makes tons of sense. The NFL has already announced games in Munich for 2026 and 2028. And since Big Blue was officially granted international marketing rights in Germany for five years through the GMP in March 2024, it’s not hard to connect the dots.
Giants could get Munich redemption game in 2026
The last time New York went to Munich, it didn’t exactly go smoothly. The poor 70,000 fans at Allianz Arena who paid to watch that one got a battle between two 2-7 teams entering Week 10. The G-Men faced the Carolina Panthers and lost 20-17 in overtime. At least it went down to the wire.
If it does land in Germany, it would likely count as a home game. Some intriguing non–NFC East opponents could include the Tennessee Titans, where former head coach Brian Daboll is now the offensive coordinator, the Cleveland Browns, which could turn into another toilet bowl-type game with Todd Monken choosing their head coaching job over the Giants’ OC role, and the New Orleans Saints for a Jaxson Dart vs. Tyler Shough second-year QB showdown.
For whatever reason, the G-Men turn into a completely different team once they grab their passports. They’re 3-1 overseas since 2007. Somebody get Pitbull on the phone. Mr. Worldwide might have competition:
Location | Opponent | Score |
|---|---|---|
London (Wembley Stadium) | Miami Dolphins (2007) | Giants win: 13-10 |
London (Twickenham Stadium) | Los Angeles Rams (2016) | Giants win: 17-10 |
London (Tottenham Hotspur Stadium) | Green Bay Packers (2022) | Giants win: 29-22 |
Munich (Allianz Arena) | Carolina Panthers (2024) | Giants lose: 20-17 (OT) |
Munich Round 2 would give Big Blue a chance at redemption. They played terribly the first time. In 13 offensive possessions, they managed to score a measly 17 points. They went from solely a national embarrassment to an international one overnight. That just can't happen, especially overseas. If the league wants to grow the game internationally, trotting out the sad and sorry Giants is one heckuva puzzling strategy.
But things will be different this time. Most notably, New York has a new franchise quarterback in Dart and a head coach in John Harbaugh. But will that be enough to come away with a win?
Let's hope this time around, Harbaugh makes Munich (or wherever they go) proud. Otherwise, the traveling slop trough of a team may never be invited back.
