If you’ve watched any of the New York Giants’ first three games, you know things aren’t going the way this team had hoped, and fans are already nearing their breaking point.
At the start of the offseason, head coach Brian Daboll confirmed veteran quarterback Russell Wilson would start the season for Big Blue, despite an impressive training camp and preseason from rookie signal-caller Jaxson Dart.

After Week 1’s dud against the Commanders, where the team failed to score a touchdown, Daboll didn’t immediately commit to Wilson for the Week 2 matchup against the Cowboys. Ultimately, the Giants went back to the 36-year-old, which paid off enough to earn him a third straight start against Kansas City. Now, after another disappointing outing, the coaching staff is facing a decision for Week 4, and fans have already made their preference loud and clear.
Russell Wilson is starting to feel the pressure from the New York fans
You may have heard the MetLife Stadium crowd throughout the Sunday Night Football broadcast, and those weren’t positive cheers. Fans were chanting “We Want Dart” after Wilson’s second interception of the first half, and it’s clear that many have had enough and are ready to see the Giants’ first-round pick under center in the near future.
When asked by the media about the chants and boos, Russ said, “You’ve got to have thick skin, you’ve got to be able to know who you are and the player that you are.” That all sounds good, but fans are impatient and want to see results now. New York doesn’t want to hear about what can be better — they want to see it.
When Dart was asked about the chants from the crowd, he said he didn’t pay attention to them and was just “focused on the play.” It’s clear the rookie is staying patient and waiting for his time to come, which may be sooner than we think. He’s already taken a few snaps on rushing plays to give Wilson a breather but has yet to throw a pass in a game.
So if you’re in Daboll’s seat, which gets hotter every week the Giants lose, what do you do? Well, it looks like you make the right call and start Dart. On Monday, the team announced it will be starting the rookie quarterback in Week 4 against the Chargers.
So let’s just put it this way: if the Giants didn't make a change soon to please their fans, we might've started seeing those banners flying over MetLife Stadium again.
