Much like the New York Giants, the Tennessee Titans haven’t exactly had much on-field success over the past couple of seasons.
Heading into 2026, the Titans had the worst record in football over the previous two years at 6-28. That’s what we call in the biz: terrible. Who am I to talk? The G-Men went a whopping 7-27 over the same stretch, but this isn’t about them at the moment, so I digress.
All that losing landed Tennessee QB Cam Ward with the first overall pick in 2025 and WR Carnell Tate with the fourth overall pick a year later. It also brought a pair of former New York head coaches to Nashville: ex-Jets HC Robert Saleh and former Giants HC Brian Daboll. And apparently Daboll took one look at the roster he left behind in New York and decided, “I cannot and will not retool this thing without my former players.”
To each their own.
Brian Daboll’s Giants additions haven’t changed much in Tennessee
Here's a quick recap of who left East Rutherford for Broadway this offseason:
- Austin Schlottmann: two years, $7 million
- Cor’Dale Flott: three years, $45 million
- Daniel Bellinger: three years, $24 million
- Wan’Dale Robinson: four years, $70 million
That’s $146 million worth of former Giants players for anyone without a calculator. And after opening the season with an embarrassing 23-10 loss to the New York Jets, Tennessee is spending a whole lot of money to find out something Giants fans probably could’ve told them for free.
The Titans managed just 195 total yards in the loss. To their credit, they looked a whole lot better against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2. Tennessee gave Philly everything it could handle before ultimately losing 24-20 and falling to 0-2.
Moral victories are cool and all. They’re still winless.
Robinson has caught six passes for 47 yards and zero touchdowns through two games. Bellinger has been even quieter, hauling in one pass for seven yards with no scores, either.
Meanwhile, Daboll’s new-look offense hasn’t exactly brought back memories of his glory days in Buffalo. Tennessee has scored 30 points in two games, with Ward throwing for 323b yards as the Titans stumble into another L
Look, none of this means Robinson, Bellinger, Flott, or Schlottmann can’t play. Robinson is coming off a career year in which he caught 92 passes for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns. I won't poke fun at Flott (he was a dawg for Big Blue), and Schlottmann is a solid starting center. It’s the money and the plan that’s worth mocking.
Robinson turned Malik Nabers’ absence into a $70 million payday. Bellinger somehow turned 88 receptions, 934 yards, and four touchdowns throughout his entire four-year career into $8 million per season.
Funny enough, the Titans will get a firsthand look at the team they spent all offseason raiding next Sunday, when they visit Big Blue for a 1 p.m. kickoff at MetLife Stadium.
Then Daboll rolled into Nashville in cowboy boots with country music blasting through the AirPods and helped dish out $146 million to bring some of his Giants buddies with him. Now the Titans are 0-2. If only they'd asked -- we could’ve saved them a lot of money.
